I'm a full-time optical design consultant. I've been working as an optical engineer for 23 years.  Prior to that, I worked in related fields (e.g., ultrafast laser spectroscopy & photovoltaics) as a research scientist.  I have masters degrees in both physics and optics. My rate may be higher than some of the other freelancers, but I know what I'm doing, I have the right tools to move quickly, and my company is a legitimate U.S. business. I use Zemax OpticStudio Professional (currently licensed and supported). I have a small optical prototyping lab on-site.
